The Swansea Indian Mela is a community event held once every 2 years, showcasing the varied culture and diversity of the Indian community in Swansea and Wales.
We welcome you to support and enjoy a spectacular array of cultural events, ranging from experienced dancers to children’s performances. Have a taste of the range of Indian delicacies on sale, including vegan, vegetarian and non-vegetarian street food. This year we are also inviting other communities to showcase their food and cultural heritage at the event. We believe this multicultural approach will further enrich your experience.
Workshops allow us to create an immersive experience. The Indian Society aims to deliver high quality free workshops at the Mela for the benefit of the general community. Workshops in Yoga and Pilates will help you tone your body and mind. Alternative medicine workshops in homeopathy, meditation and osteopathy will give you an insight into their underlying principles. Experienced teachers will deliver our dance workshops, touching on different classical Indian dance styles as well as western styles like Tango.
We invite you to visit a range of stalls carefully selected for your enjoyment. They range from fashion, arts & crafts, local traders and service stalls. Have your hands painted with henna or pick up some trendy items for your home. This year we are also introducing stalls providing financial and recruitment services.
A complimentary Mela magazine, complete with a selection of articles, traditional recipes and the best of artwork from various competitions undertaken by the Indian Society this year will be distributed from the reception desk on the day of event.
Tickets: £4 per ticket. Children under 10 enter free. Pre-booking not required. Tickets will be sold at entrance. Entry any time after 12:00 noon. Workshops have limited capacity. Reserve on entry.
